The Tempest

Set on a remote island of villains, lovers, fools and outcasts, The Tempest is a tale of enlightenment and forgiveness. Conjuring up a supernatural world of sorcery, savagery, shipwrecks and chivalry, Shakespeare’s late play is the bard at his most mystical and audacious.

Shakespeare’s magical story of growing up and growing old will be performed by the next generation of talent – an ensemble of 18-25 year olds that brings together the most promising young actors from the UK and Northamptonshire.

In June 2016 we presented a vibrant new version by Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Oscar and BAFTA winning Ida; Her Naked Skin, National Theatre) of Shakespeare's last masterpiece The Tempest at The Royal in Northampton, in a co-production with Royal and Derngate.
