This Week at NYT | VIP guests at Zigger Zagger, and the REP enters tech stages!

Posted 29 Jul 2023 by Joe Duggan

There’s been some time to breathe this week at NYT as we’ve had a break between shows with Zigger Zagger coming down on Saturday, and the REP Company moving into Ambassadors Theatre for tech ahead of opening night in just a few weeks time.

Zigger Zagger

Saturday night marked the end of out 50th Anniversary run of Zigger Zagger at Wilton’s Music Hall. We had a brilliant time at the beautiful venue of Wilton’s, and are sure that their beautiful music hall and backstage areas are now a little quieter without our rowdy bunch of Zigger Zagger gang members chanting away.

We had the pleasure of welcoming the writer Peter Terson and his family to the production, and know that our cast absolutely loved meeting him.

REP West End Season

Rehearsals are over, and the REP Company have now moved into Ambassdors for tech! You can keep up to date with the REP Company’s antics on their twitter feed @NYTREPCompany, and on our very own Instagram feed, where REP members will be doing a number of takeovers.

Also check out these brilliant new rehearsal shots courtesy of Helen Murray for Jekyll and Hyde!

Don’t forget to book your tickets, they’re selling fast. Head here to book

Rikki Beadle Blair

For the past two weeks Rikki Beadle Blair has been heading up an R&D project surrounding LGBT voices.

This afternoon Rikki and members of NYT Theatre will share their work 'Timeless', at our Holloway Road Rehearsal Rooms.

Love’s epic legacy of LGBT diversity. As long as we have been human we have been diverse. Timeless is an exploration of LGBT identities throughout recorded history, excavating and examining the the clues and characters that still live and breathe within the legacies of drama, music and literature and art.

Chic to Cheek

Our Fundraising Gala, Chic to Cheek is now and sale! The event will be hosted by NYT Vintage member Krishnan Guru-Murthy with the Olivier Award winning Adam Meggido and Duncan Walsh Atkins creating a performance by NYT members for the night.

Classic Car Boot Sale

Last weekend some of our members donned some fantastic pink boiler suits and performed at the Hemingway’s Classic Car Boot Sale in Kings Cross. Directed by NYT Associate Anna Spearpoint, our members performed a number of promenade pieces across the event, and even managed to find time to say hello to a certain Martin Freeman who was attending the event.

Start Up Saturday

Our Start Up Saturdays are about to kick off again this weekend for the new term. Our 11-14 year old participants explore the NYT’s approach to ensemble theatre making through story telling, devising, music, dance, characters and chorus across the term.
