IGNITE Your Creativity

March 2023 - March 2024

IGNITE Your Creativity, a new free programme from Netflix and National Youth Theatre to help young people build networks and raise awareness about the wide range of behind the scenes careers in film, TV and theatre.

Offering opportunities to over 500 young people aged 14-25 years old in South Wales, West Yorkshire and the North East in year one.

It's free to take part and anyone aged 14-25 can sign up.

To help crack the ‘class ceiling’ and other barriers that so many young people encounter, Netflix and National Youth Theatre have launched IGNITE Your Creativity, a new programme that will spotlight the wide range of highly skilled behind the scenes careers in  film, TV and theatre. It will also build the confidence, aspirations and networks of young people to show that a career in entertainment is possible regardless of their background.

IGNITE Your Creativity is currently recruiting young people aged 15-25  in Newport in South Wales. The South Wales element is being delivered with Urban Myth Films and their Newport-based film studios, the Sherman Theatre, National Youth Arts Wales and local community organisations and schools. This will be followed by activity in West Yorkshire and the North East later this year. 20 free community and school workshops will be delivered in each area, alongside set and theatre visits and free week-long courses led by industry professionals. If you're a school or community organisation in one of the above areas that would like to take part email schools@nyt.org.uk.

An advisory panel of industry leaders will support the programme including Şenay Camgöz, Oscar winning designer Eve Stewart, BAFTA Nominated producer Luti Fagbenle, TV Executives Johnny Capps and Chantal Rickards OBE, film producer Lauren Dark, award-winning lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun, filmmaker Matthew Penry-Davey, and lighting designer Rob Halliday.
