Schools Auditions

National Youth Theatre Schools Auditions
(Annual Auditions January - March)

Many of our current members say they auditioned to join the NYT after a teacher inspired them to apply.

If you would like to express an interest in arranging an auditions day for your school, visit our schools auditions page for more information and please contact schools@nyt.org.uk to arrange a date or to make an enquiry. School Audition days take place from January - March 2024 and are open for booking this Autumn.

Inclusive Practice

Since 2018 we have been working with Highshore School in Southwark to develop our creative inclusive practice through a programme of workshops, after-school clubs, and performance opportunities. Our partnership with Highshore School has also led to the creation of a relaxed audition process, through which numerous students have become NYT Members.

In 2019, we expanded our Inclusive Schools Programme and began working in Samuel Rhodes School in Islington – delivering a programme of drama sessions, after-school activity and creative work placements.

We also offer relaxed performances for a number of our productions where audience members will receive visual stories about accessibility of the venue, what the set and costumes look like and details of any key moments. In collaboration with Touretteshero, we also provide sonic maps prior to the show for anyone who may benefit from a deeper understanding of the aural journey of the production before their visit.

We’re always interested in hearing from teachers who may be interested in getting involved in our Inclusive Schools Programme. Please get in touch with participation@nyt.org.uk to find out more.
